This IKEA love seat could be yours for FREE!! That’s right!! I Delbert Shoopman pseudo internet celebrity is just giving this to who ever comes and picks it up! Look, if that’s not enough… I’ll call Ian or Lou over to my place, that way when you pick it up… they can snap pictures of me and you by the love seat! I’ll then print those pictures out in 8x10 form & I’ll autograph them/uniquely number each one. Pretty sweet right? Hell, I’ll even get upper deck over to my apt to certify that the love seat is actually mine. Let me know dudes. (delbert.shoopman@gmail.com)
*& to clarify, I haven’t had sex on this.

hmmm, this would make an excellent addition to my Couch Graveyard…

The Marshmallow Test - Kids are left in a room alone with a marshmallow, saying that if they wait long enough, they’ll get ANOTHER when the surveillor comes back.  Hilarity ensues.

There’s apparently nothing like watching a kid squirm over a marshmallow.  My favorite is the red-headed girl, who just eats the marshmallow as the proctor is walking out the door.  After she’s done, she takes her plate, gets up, and walks to the door.

This is a perfect microcosm of the human condition.  You can have a little satisfaction now.  Or you can discipline yourself for a greater reward.  Sadly, most people just eat the marshmallow.

Ha ha, I hope I was this disciplined as a kid!

Whenever I start to feel stressed and overwhelmed,

I turn on the Golden Oldies station, and start singing to myself, softly if others are around, at the top of my lungs if I’m home alone.

Ladri di biciclette (1948)
Watched this last night with Andrea, at the recommendation of my friend Will.
The synopsis, A man and his son search for a stolen bicycle vital for his job, says it all and I found watching this amateur Italian actor scour the earth for his dignity rather compelling. The whole film was beautiful in it’s naivety and I’d suggest it to anyone wanting a crash course in film, storytelling, acting, and directing in 89 minutes. And I’m not alone:

The film is frequently on critics’ and directors’ lists of the best films ever made. It was given an Academy Honorary Award in 1950, and, just four years after its release, was deemed the greatest film of all time by the magazine Sight & Sound’s poll of filmmakers and critics in 1952. The film placed sixth as the greatest ever made in the latest directors poll, conducted in 2002.

This is a great film that with an amazing back story.  Tough to watch - but worth it.

One of my favorite movies of all time.  Really simple, really powerful.

This movie was also the (supposed)  inspiration for Pee Wee’s Big Adventure!

Type "Cafe Tacuba" for your next Pandora radio station

Its the name of the band that had the really catchy spanish song in LittleBigPlanet for the PS3. I discovered them and other Rock en Espanol artists when I lived in Buenos Aires for 9 months. Listening to all these songs really take me back, and I’m discovering some great music from bands that, sadly, no longer exist. If you’re adventurous, try it out!
